Lesson Policy 2020

Schedule & Payment Information:

  • Lessons are held every other week.

  • The year is divided into semesters:  January through May, June through August, and September through December.

  • Payment for the full semester is due at the first lesson of that semester.

  • There is a choice of a 30-, 45-, or 60-minute lesson.

  • I accept cash or a check made payable to “Cave’s Music Room.”

  • Students registering for a full semester will be charged for one fewer lesson than in the semester to allow for illness, scheduling conflict, inclement weather, etc.  If you attend every lesson you'll have gotten one for free.  No refunds or credits are given if a student misses more than one lesson.

Lesson Conflicts:

  • If you are unable to attend your lesson at your regular time and I have another opening that week, you may reschedule.

  • I greatly appreciate the courtesy of a call or text as soon as possible when you are not able to attend your lesson.

  • When necessary, I am willing to teach your lesson via FaceTime or over the phone.  Since this is not as thorough as a regular lesson, I limit this option to situations when the lesson would otherwise be missed, such as inclement weather or illness.

  • If you do not attend your lesson and have not notified me, I will not call to remind you or to reschedule.

  • If you do not attend the first lesson of a semester and you do not notify me, your lesson time may not be held.

Lesson Etiquette:

  • If you arrive a few minutes early for your lesson, you are welcome to come in.  Please enter quietly.

  • Parents, grandparents, etc., are always welcome to attend lessons.

  • If you need to use the bathroom, please wash your hands with soap and water before returning to the music room.

Practice Requirements & Tips:

  • I expect my students to practice each piece a minimum of three times, three days per week; harder pieces will require more practice time.

  • Help your student find a quiet, uninterrupted time to practice.

  • Please make piano practice a priority.  Lessons without practice are of little benefit.

  • If you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to text or call my cell phone.

  • Please make me aware of any struggles you are having at home regarding piano practice, and I will do my best to help.
